In November 2021 our practitioner team got the amazing opportunity to take part in a mental health training course as part of BBC Children in Need 'A Million and Me' project. The training organized by the Anna Freud Centre focussed on how to support individuals' mental health.
Firstly, the practitioner team got to go through different questions related to mental health on a closed online platform created by the Anna Freud Centre. The team worked closely together as a team at Steps and could see the responses of other settings who were also attending the same course throughout the country.
After that, they were invited to take part in an online meeting where they had the chance to meet with the other organizations who took part in the same training, and they discussed all together how everyone works and how we can they can bring the information learnt into the organisations they are involved with.
As the result of the training, the team produced their own mental health awareness posters and started to involve talking about emotions with the children more intentionally in the session.
The posters are consciously selected sources of organizations supporting teenagers' and young children's mental health.
