Steps Conductive Education Centre's free and unique service supports families with young children with special educational needs, such as Cerebral Palsy and any other conditions which affect the acquisition of motor skills.
When the pandemic forced services into lockdown, we replaced our face-to-face sessions with a digital service which has been hugely successful and enabled us to support many families throughout a very difficult time.
We have been counting down the days until we could welcome families back into the building for face-to-face sessions. September 2021 has finally arrived and we now have the joyful sound of families back at Steps. To keep our vulnerable children safe we are keeping numbers of children in the centre down and continuing a dual service of face-to-face and digital sessions.
The Randal Rhino Group provides a vital service for our families, this group enables us to assess children as soon as their family contacts us and means that we do not have to operate a waiting list for our service. The number of families supported by The Randal Rhino Group has been increasing steadily, despite the global pandemic.
When a child has been assessed fully in the Randal Rhino's group they will then be moved into the most appropriate group to meet their and their families needs. However all children who have passed through the Randal Rhinos maintain their 'Randal Rhino badge' throughout their time at Steps.
We are committed to be there for families from the very moment they get in touch with Steps, rather than having to wait to access our vital service. We are very grateful to The Randal Charitable Foundation for their support which enables us to offer our help straight away.
